ClimaVita is a digital platform dedicated to showcasing real-world examples of how climate change affects health in the Americas. Our goal is to enhance awareness and provide accessible, concrete evidence of climate change’s impact, catering to public health professionals, researchers, journalists, policymakers, and the general public. Through ClimaVita, we strive to bring forth compelling narratives and data that highlight the urgency of addressing climate change in the context of global health. The name ClimaVita is a combination of the latin words for ‘climate’ and ‘life’.
Users can create and upload posts highlighting the impacts of climate change on health in a concise format, inspired by the brevity of Twitter, for clear and punchy communication. Additional details and context can be added in the extended post body.
Users can easily navigate through the content by applying filters based on region, country, and type of health impact, alongside sorting options for quick access to relevant posts.
The platform encourages interaction, discussion, and knowledge sharing by enabling users to like, save, and comment on posts.
A new section for health and climate researchers, professionals, and project planners to share and discover posts on real-world success stories, projects, inspiring case studies, and partnership opportunities. Like the impacts section, this would include links to sources and the ability to apply filters based on region, country, health topic, and more. Longer form case studies may feature interviews with key players or team leads who have led successful projects. The aim of this section is to increase knowledge exchange, collaboration, and provide inspiration for entities looking to implement or improve health and climate change initiatives.
There is an existing wealth of health and climate change related resources including guidance documents, reports, toolkits, and virtual courses spread throughout the Internet. We will introduce a user-friendly repository of said resources, allowing users to easily access these in one place. Users will be able to filter and sort resources by health topic, resource type, with the ability to like, comment, and save for later.
We will introduce a section for users to post and discover upcoming webinars, presentations, and courses related to health and climate change all in one place, aiming to increase visibility and participation. This section will be closely linked with the resources library to ensure access of post-event materials.
Utilizing compelling design and simple language, this section will aim to educate a broad audience about the health impacts of climate change and the steps needed to protect themselves and their communities. This will feature interactive maps, diagrams, and drawing from illustrative examples in the impacts section. This may include case studies and interviews with persons affected by climate disasters across the Americas.
As an extension to the public awareness section, this will consist of the development of tools and resources designed specifically to aid users in advocating for effective health and climate change policies. This could include templates for policy briefs, letters to representatives, examples of ongoing and successful advocacy campaigns, and guides on engaging effectively with policy makers.
